Send cover letter via email and hard copy prior to upcoming tournaments.  August for Fall tournament schedule.  October for Winter tournament schedule.  February for Spring tournament schedule.  May for Summer tournament schedule.

Cover Letter via email

Attach player profile.  Only include most pertinent information in the body of the cover letter.  College coaches receive numerous correspondence daily via email.  Email Head Coach and cc Assistant Coaches.

Hard copy

Try to format cover letter and player profile to one page each.  Bold type most pertinent information that sells you as a student-athlete.
