The Fury has been accepted into the Region 1 Premier League for the Spring 2008 Season.
This team formed the Summer of 07 with the combination of two previous teams (Severna Park Dynamites (D1) & Freestate Freedom 93 (D2)). The SEVP Dynamites completed the Spring 07 in WAGS D1 team while the FREE Freedom team was in WAGS D2 with 7 ODP players. This team was formed by taking the best players off of the two teams. The team is being coached by the incumbent SEVP D1 coach, Mike Malone who has many years success coaching teams at the top level and assisted by the former FREE coach Bob Deegan.
The incumbent SEVP team with the core players remaining with this group was eliminated in the 2nd round of the 07 State Cup in PKS to eventual finalist; MSC Mustangs. During the Spring Season, This team tied the MSC Mustangs , State Cup Finalist 2-2 and beat the 07 State Cup Champions, BETH Freedom 1-0 during the season.
During their previous State Cup run in 2006, the core players were State Cup Finalist and were Region 1 8v8 Champions for 2006.
This combined team is expected to be stronger with keeping its main core players in tact and adding quality ODP players into the mix this past season. The team was able to incorporate the new players seamlessly into our existing system of play and allowing the core group to adapt to their new teammates. The group achieved its goal of finishing in the top half of Division 1 in the team’s first year playing together. This was accomplished while half the group was being indoctrinated into the demands of High School play while competing on a travel team.
During their first campaign together during the Fall 2007 Season, the team earned a 4-4-2 season. During the season, they earned a 2-1 victory over the Chantilly Burn one of the top teams in Region 1.
The team is looking to expand on our succesful fall campaign by adding 1-2 players into our competitive group. We are especially interested in adding a goalie into the group.
