U18 Girls : Sharks

During the 2007 and 2008 season, the team will participate in college showcase events, WAGS League play and other tournaments including the Maryland State Cup and the US Club Soccer Regional Championships.  This past year the Sharks traveled to the Kirkwood Showcase (DE), Raleigh Shootout (NC), Bethesda Thanksgiving Turnament (MD), Orange Classic (FL), Traingle Friendlies (NC), Score at the Shore (FL), and SAC (MD) College Showcase Events. 

The Freestate Sharks were one of the U-16 teams playing up in the WAGS High School Division last spring. Seven members of the Sharks have or currently are members of the Maryland Olympic Development Program. In addition, several players led their high school teams deep into MD State High School playoffs at schools all over Maryland including Huntingtown High School , Parkside High School and Severna Park High School.

The Sharks finished the 2007 season with an invitation to the US CLub Soccer National Cup Championships in Greensboro, NC this past July.  After losing the in the finals to the Rochester Rhinos in the US Club Soccer Regional Cahmpionship game, the Sharks enjoyed the opportunity of playing against some of the top teams in the country.

After leading the Sharks from WAGS Division 5 when they joined the league at U-13 to the highest division in WAGS this past spring, Scott Kell will be stepping down as head coach after this summer. The team will be coached by Patrick Noel for the U-17 and U-18 Seasons. Patrick recently finished a successful seven year stint with the Freestate Titans where they were U-13 MD State Cup Champions, Bethesda, Raleigh , and Columbia Tournament Champions, and were regularly ranked in the top 25 teams in the country. Patrick serves as Co-Director of Coaching for the Freestate Soccer Alliance and has led eight different teams to MD State Cup Championships.  Through coaching the Freestate United, Piranhas, Angles, and Wildcats, he has coached over 100 players who have gone on to play at NCAA Division 1 colleges and developed ties with dozens of college coaches.  Patrick also coached in the Maryland Olympic Development Program for eight years.
