The Freestate Bravehearts is a seasoned, travel team that has experience playing in the top three levels of the NCSL. The team staff is committed to developing all players to the best of their ability while moving the team to higher levels of competition. Although physical ability and knowledge of the game are important player attributes for this winning team, teamwork, dedication and camaraderie are equally stressed.

The team is coached by Matthew Schmidt who played soccer at Covenant College in Georgia and was an NSCAA All American from 1985-1987. Coach Schmidt has been actively involved with youth soccer since 1995 and is currently the varsity head coach at the Annapolis Area Christian Academy. Coach Schmidt holds a D coaching license in the state of Maryland.
